Laura Sicari
Laura began practicing yoga and meditation in 2004. Her first Buddhist teaching transmission was received from Pema Chödron via compact disc (!) and her first teacher was Tara Brach of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC. Laura began studying with Lama Willa Baker of Natural Dharma Fellowship (NDF) in 2014, and Lama Liz Monson soon after. She spent years in NDF’s Margha and Vajrayana programs. She also practices with Lama Rod Owens, as well as with Dr. Nida Chenagstang and his senior student, Wendy Littner, in the Yuthock Nyingthig lineage.
She earned a 200-hour hatha yoga certification in the Sivananda lineage in 2008, and a 300-hour certification in VajraYoga with Michele Loew and Robert Thurman in 2023. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre with a minor in French from Goucher College, and a Master of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (originally Tai Sophia Institute).
Laura brings her studies of art, language, and theatre to her exploration of movement disciplines, traditional medicine, and Buddhadharma. Laura has studied Five Element constitutional acupuncture, Classical Chinese Taoist medical lineage, Indian hatha yoga, and Tibetan yogas. She’s currently learning to support patients with PTSD and C-PTSD through bodywork that integrates the Taoist Five Elements, Chinese medicine theory, and contemporary Western trauma theory.
She supports the work of Natural Dharma Fellowship as the Events Manager and maintains a private acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine practice in Baltimore, Maryland: www.sicarihealingarts.com.
