Ji Hyang Padma, Ph.D.
Dr. Ji Hyang Padma has twenty- five years of experience in Buddhist training and teaching in the U.S. and Asia, fourteen of these years as a monastic. This summer she is in residence at Omega Institute as its meditation teacher. Currently she serves as Buddhist chaplain at Tufts University and Northeastern University. She has also taught at Wellesley College, Harvard University, Kripalu, and Esalen Institute.. Ji Hyang also teaches meditation through Open Gate Zen Collective. She is gifted at finding an entry-point into meditation practice for people who are just beginning their journey, and has also co-led equity and restorative justice trainings on issues of race and gender.
She has combined an academic career with her role as a Zen teacher. She has a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University, and directed a graduate program in comparative religion. Ji Hyang Padma is certified in MBSR and completed a chaplain residency at UCSF Medical Center in 2020-21.
Her first book, Living the Season: Zen Practices for Transformative Times, was published in 2013. Her second book, Field of Blessings: Ritual and Consciousness in the Work of Buddhist Healers, was released in 2021. Her work can be found here: https://www.mountainpath.org/
