Merry Mahakala Solidarity Group (Online)
March 1 - December 31, 2026
Live Online! 2nd & 4th Thursday, 12:00-1:00 pm ET
Mahakala is the force that transforms negative emotions and energies into powerful, compassionate forces. They embody the intensity needed to overcome ignorance and delusion in ourselves and in the world.
The Merry Mahakala Solidarity Group is a group of Buddhist practitioners who gather to practice and build community with the intention of welcoming and looking directly into the rage, sadness, grief, and confusion we are experiencing in the polycrisis. As joyful warriors, we meet for community-led, online sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday – 12:00-1:00 pm (Eastern). All are welcome to share this space and attend however your schedule allows. In months with five weeks, we skip the fifth week and reconvene on the second week of the following month.
During community-led weekly sessions, we gather to sit in meditation, reflect and share. This group welcomes anyone who wishes to apply Buddhist practice on the cushion, in their daily private and work lives, and on the streets as activists as a means to move through the challenges we are facing with compassion and wisdom. We discuss whatever is coming up for us, including news, politics, the environment, human rights, and personal struggles and losses resulting from the transformation unfolding around us. Our group maintains discretion, and does not record. All are welcome in exploring how we can deepen our practice and widen our hearts by turning towards.
